Hi admin,
My customer have PM1000. I saw PM1000 have port communication RS485 (Pin 7_[ D1+] and Pin 14_[D0-] in attached image). But when i connect to PME2021, i can't read data. Pls help me.
Thanks very much.
In most cases, to connect a serial device (RS-485) to PME (or any PC-based software), unless the device is within physical proximity to the device *or* existing RS-485 wiring is available (to a maximum of 5000 ft I believe), then the best option is to use some type of Modbus TCP gateway device (like EGX-150/Link 150) that allows a PC to use network TCP Modbus which can then be wired to RS-485 devices.
Usually those devices have a web interface that allows you to properly configure the RS-485 port on the gateway to match up with the settings programmed in any device to allow proper communications.
[Edit]
Upon further investigation, the PM1000 does not come with standard Modbus communications (only a DO which can be used for energy pulsing). The PM1200 is the one that has RS-485 communications (see attached differences between the two models).
