ecostruxure Power monitoring expert installation and costs

Hello everyone,

I have to monitor the energy for our building. I am using for the first time
Schneiner electric components, I don't know a lot about it and need support.
The project consists of 19 PoweLogic PM5000 series devices that are to communicate with an EBX210/510 via Modbus. The energy data must then be transmitted to a computer via Ethernet and displayed there.
My questions are :
Is Ecostruxure Power Monitoring Expert software free for one node (one machine)? If not where can I find the cost of my solution?
Is EBX/Com'X 210 suitable or should I use something else here?
i will be also thankfull for any other suitable Propose.

thank you very much

Hello @GIAS2022

Com'X210/510 is the previous generation of gateway and is now replaced by Panel server (but the both product are suypported in this forum). At the end of my post, I add a link to a pined post of this  forum to discover Panel Server and all the main docs/assets for the gateway

In a nutshell, 3 types of architectures are possible with panel server:

  • Archi1: Panel server connected to a on premise Modbus TCP client (such as PME mentionned previously by Charles). in this case , the Panel Server act as a transparent gateway and just forward modbus traffic between the upper Modbus TCP client and the downstream products. A software such as PME is powerfull to leverage the better of all the connected meters and monitor your electrical network.
  • Archi2: Panel Server connected to a SE CLoud Advisor (such Energy Hub for example) to achieve your business and sustainability goals with energy management (EEH link)
    https://www.se.com/ww/en/product-range/88215214-ecostruxure-energy-hub/?preferredCountry=yes
  • Archi3: Panel Server used as a local Energy Server without upper sofware cloud application to log locally the consumption meters and follow consumption trends in web page /export in csv, be notified of alarms by email). This archi is less powerfull than the 2 previous one but more cost competitive because no software/ subsription are needed in this case.

Hope it will help you to start. Contact your local SE office if your need help and more details about our offers.

Best regards

Hello @GIAS2022 ,

PME is not free, there are license costs. As for pricing I would recommend contacting your local Schneider sales team for a quote.

Having 19 modbus devices in a single serial loop is likely not going to perform as well as you would want. Daisy Chain Calculator from https://ecoxpert.se.com/power-management-systems/power-management-software/power-monitoring-expert/d... -> tools or Daisy Chain Calculator can help determine if you need more gateway devices. A lot will depend on the type of PM5000 meter, PM53XX very different than PM556X, and what you will want to do in PME. This is not because of the gateway choose, serial communications are slow and always the bottleneck.

Regards,

Charles
