GATEWAY TEAM:
Looking for help on adding legacy devices as standard drop down device for the ComX 510. Items like CM2000, PM600, First Gen Enercept and so on. Any help on this???
Have not heard a peep from the development team lately.
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,
I hope you're doing well. There is currently no supported way for people outside the development team to add device types to the Com'X510 other than using Custom Models. If you have specific device types you would like to see supported natively by the Com'X510, I can make sure to get that list to our Marketing team who can evaluate exactly if/where they may fit in our roadmap.
Best Regards,
Colton Peltier

The CM and PM meters would likely need an EGX to translate PowerLogic protocol to Modbus
and to play on a four wire system as they were typically deployed.
Maybe these are the reasons they were not included on the list. The protocol should not be
difficult. a two to four wire converter could be used if someone want to run this off the ComX
serial port.
CM2000 (Many still in use)
PM600 (Also many still in use)
First Gen Enercept (Not that old)
CM100 / 200 (Similar to CM2000 but have seen fewer)
I am looking at the ComX 510 as a gateway platform to get customers to record and report
meter data at a good price point. When they need more data we provide PME.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the quick reply. As far as I'm aware, there haven't been any plans to add the PowerLogic protocol to the Com'X product line. I'll certainly pass along your feedback to our Offer team for consideration. Are all of the devices you listed above PowerLogic only (CM2000, PM600, Enercept 1st Gen, CM100, CM200)?

Colton:
The First Gen Enercept is two wire Modbus so it should be easy to add.
CM 100/200 and 2000 are PowerLogic only. Schneider Gateways translate PowerLogic to Modbus so this should not be a problem. Just add a gateway.
PM600 with the right firmware are PowerLogic or Modbus. This is selectable from the front panel. Can be wired for two wire.
Looking at adding these to existing systems. For the PowerLogic stuff we just add Gateways to translate PowerLogic to Modbus. The Com X 510 would
just need to hop an IP and Magically we are in.
Should be simple really. Take the existing drivers and change the register mapping. Shouldn't take so long.
Just warn people that the PowerLogic stuff will need Gateways. Easy a pie you would think.
Does this help?

Have been begging for these for over a year now.
Give us the code and tools and we will do this.

These are things an OLD TIME PowerLogic person would know.

Hi Michael,
I've spoken with our Offer managers, and unfortunately currently supporting these meters (and PowerLogic protocol) is not on our roadmap. We will have to help our customers to move forward in metering technology during our conversations about energy management and showing the energy servers. The full complement of information available on the newer metering devices will help tell our story.
If you'd like additional information or have more questions on the topic, just let me know.
Best Regards,
Colton

Then give us the code so we can fix things.
It cannot be that hard to do to make a new device using an existing template. Take a template that you have and change the registers.
Should take a few hours tops to do so. It is short sighted to not support legacy devices since it should be simple to add devices to the system. We are very disappointed in hearing that this will not happen.

Hi Michael,
I truly appreciate your interest in our offer. It is always very difficult to address the issue of legacy devices. As a company we want to ensure that we offer a strong path forward without forgetting about the installed base. You are very accurate in illustrating these older devices are not natively supported. They are certainly from before my time. The CM2000 went through its end of commercialization in 2002. This was replaced by the CM3000 which went through end of commercialization in 2010, replaced by a PM8x0 metering device. Which is now replaced by a PM8000 metering device. Schneider has drawn the line for native support as far back as the CM3000 devices. However, customers can bring in the information of legacy devices through the custom libraries, as you know. Furthernore you can create custom webpages as well. This is the format in which we open the product (or the code) to users. This way they can add anything. As a global provider of the ComX, I am sure you can appreciate that different levels of approvals a firmware revision must be processed through in order for the Schneider Electric logo be affixed to the product. Therefore, legally allowing for further penetration into the firmware of the ComX is not possible.
Thank you for your continued interest.
