We are discussing if EGX300 can retrieve the on-board log in PM800 in case the communication is failure, and saving these data as Datalog in EGX300?

Hello Quan, no, it can't do that. You are totally right in the hardware architecture. But there is no such software functionality to make it happen.
This is not a feature in EGX or any other gateway we have in Schneider at global offer.
This is also true for the high end meters like CM4000 and ION.

just in addition the reason this doesn't work this way is because the EGX300 essentially acts as a modbus master and just polls the downstream devices (PM800 in this case) for the readings (as exposed via the PM800 holding registers) when triggered by the 'Interval Reading' setting you set in the EGX300 (ie 10, 15, 30 mins or 1hr reading intervals). So in the case you have above the EGX300 (if powered at the time) would register an ERROR in the data file when the data file is created.
The EGX300 only creates a dat file in .csv format when the logging is enabled on the EGX300 and there are readings saved in the binaries.
EODC when it reads the ERROR (25 or 38 usually - but please see the EGX300 User Guide for the full list of errors) will simply skip that channel.datapoint. If you have the EODC task: Data Quality: Interval Gap Filler enabled then EODC will fill in missing intervals via linear interpolation if the gap is within the file (and there are valid measurements after the gap in the same data file ie used for when 1 or 2 measurements are missing).
Usually the kind of interruption you describe is due to a power outage on the EGX300 (because if it was an outage on the PM800 then line voltage is usually down too and therefore no energy is measured). In this case we always recommend UPS supplies on the EGX300.
