Com'X 510 dead after accidentally connecting 240V terminal on 24VDC terminal.

Hi everyone, has anyone manage to recover a Com'X gateway (510 in this case) after accidentally supplying 240V on its 24VDC terminal?

Hi Hastak,

Sorry to hear that happened to your ComX510. I think at this point most likely the ComX is permanently damaged, but you may try PoE (power over ethernet) to see if the ComX will come online.

Best Regards,

Colton

Colton Peltier - Yes you are right!! After your message I tried connecting on POE and it booted up and I can log in.

Unfortunately the site that I am working with, doesn't have  POE, but I can reuse the Com'X box in demo in our office in SG.

Thanks for the comment and hint. Very helpful!!

Good to know that PoE still works as it feeds the internal circuity via another path not affected by the 24V DC-DC convertor. Unfortunately, it is not an "alternative" or "recovery"solution as 230/240Vac should have never been fed into the ComX 510 in the first place. It is extremely hazardous and it may result in fires and extensive property damage.

My take is that the connector on the SmartLink Si D should be re-designed to make sure it cannot fit the 24Vdc connections that is prevalent in our low voltage offers (i.e. IF-E, ComX, Link150, FDM121, Magelis, etc.). Granted the connector can take 240Vac, it makes absolutely no sense for a 240Vac connection to use the same connector/removable plug as a 24Vdc connection within the same manufacturer (worse still, within the same offer umbrella).

My 2 cents worth.
