Hello,
I have been installing my Netbotz 355 appliances in some close-quarters communication closets. I find the field of view on the camera is not nearly wide enough for me to get a good view of the equipment rack that I am monitoring.
Has anyone found a cost effective replacement lens that would provide a wider field of view? If I am looking at this right, the stock lens uses a 'CS' threaded mount. I have done some remedial searches online for lenses.
Is the lens something that I just have to play with different options that I purchase online? Does APC offer any lens options for their customers? Anyone else have this issue?
Figured I'd ask....
Thanks,
Gordy

Hi Gordon!
As I know, there are no lens options for Netbotz cameras.
There are two options in camera settings under Visual Mode button - Wide and Pan&Scan. Pan&Scan is selected by default. Did you try to change it to wide? Maybe it will help you.

Just had a play with the one on my desk, and the lens will detach so i would imagine that if you got one with the same thread you could just screw the old one off and the new one on 😀

Hello Valentin,
Actually I never noticed that feature - I wish they put that option in the Surveillance settings section instead of digging down into the camera 'visual mode'. This setting does make the view a bit wider.
Unfortunately there are still some closets that need a wider view and I believe changing the lens out may be the only option.
Thank you!

Hi Alastair,
I was hoping that someone had already found a compatible lens so I could use those specs. I was 'trying' to avoid re-inventing the wheel if at all possible by purchasing a variety of lenses to see how they would work.
If I get approval to get some lenses I will post the results here.
Thanks again,
Gordy

"User adjustable and switchable industry-standard CS-mount lens. CS-mount permits access to hundreds of different general purpose and special purpose lenses."
Have you tried taking the lens cover off and having a play with the adjustments to make it a wider angle?
From the text in the manual it suggests that any CS-mount lens will work, after-all the lens part is just glass, you might lose some functionality like zoom, pan/tilt etc but I'm not sure about that, I've been furiously googling as I'm sure i can remember seeing a link somewhere about lens options but can't for the life of me find it now!
The only comment i have been able to find is at;
Resolution:
Starting with the camera pod 120, the lenses have been updated to that they can change both focus and angle. The option and need for a wide angle lens has been removed

Thank you for your response.
The 3xx and 4xx appliances do have adjustable lenses - which is an improvement. Unfortunately the 'widest' field of view is not wide enough for some of the locations I have been tasked with installations in.
(Most camera lenses I have used you can 'zoom' in, the focus, then 'zoom' out and the focus will remain intact - these lenses totally need to reset focus every time you even slightly modify the field of view)
