netbotz 500 firmware upgrade from 2.5.0 to latest release

Hello!

I have a legacy NetBotz 500 system (details below) and would like to update its firmware to the latest available and compatible version.
Unfortunately, I could not find the required BotzWare firmware and Advanced View software on the official APC/Schneider website.
I found similar topics but links unavailable
https://community.se.com/t5/EcoStruxure-IT-forum/Where-to-find-tftpraptor2-6-2-zip-for-a-netbotz-500...
https://community.se.com/t5/EcoStruxure-IT-forum/netbotz-500-Firmware-File/m-p/227419

Could you please provide (or point me to) the latest supported firmware file for this hardware, along with the compatible version of NetBotz Advanced View?

System details:
- Main unit: NetBotz 500 (WallBotz 500)
- Revision: A00
- Manufacture date: 02/06/06
- OS version: 2.5.0 (Build: 20060111_0012)
- Docked Sensor Pod 120 (Application version: 2.21)
- Docked Camera Pod 120 (Application version: 2.5.0)

I need the firmware and upgrade instructions to restore or upgrade my system.
Any official download links, archives, or direct files would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your help!

Hey @Temp2  So a colleague found a copy of raptor 2.6.1. I don't recall the difference between 2.6.1 and 2.6.2 but I don't think it was huge. Going to try to attach it here but if this doesn't come through, as I mentioned I don't have Box any more so I can't create a share. If it doesn't attach, I suggest you contact tech support and ask them for it...point out this forum post and if they should be able to get it to you or at least they can contact me directly.

Thanks,

Steve.

P.S. Thanks Andrew

Hi @Temp2 ,

Sadly this firmware is no longer available. The NBWL0500 was end of sale back in 2013 and end of support 2018.
https://www.se.com/us/en/faqs/FA158113/

We no longer use the "Box" site and anything that we had there is gone.

I don't even have a copy of 2.6.2 any more so unless there's a user out there that has it available and would like to share, I'm sorry but you're out of luck.

Hi @Temp2 ,

Yes, that was me. I no longer have those files and Schneider shut down all of our box access so I don't have access to those links. Again, sorry.

Thank you so much!
I was able to successfully download the ZIP archive and am now trying to update my device.

I really appreciate your support, especially for such an old piece of equipment.
This once again demonstrates your loyalty to customers and gives me even more confidence in continuing to use SE/APC products.

Hello @APC_Steve

I opened TFTPD32.HLP

But there is only general instruction about tftp.

But nothing about NetBotz upgrade procedure.

I found guide:

Issue:
NetBotz TFTP upgrade procedure.
Product Line:
NetBotz version 3
Environment:
NetBotz model: 355, 455, 450, 550,  570.

https://www.se.com/us/en/faqs/FA176133/

But I have NetBotz Version 2.

Do you know - can I use guide for Version 3 in Version 2 device ?

Hi @Temp2 ,
The procedure should be the same. It's been probably a decade or more since I've even looked at this for the 320/420/500 units. I don't find any other documentation. Another person that has been working on botz as long as I also believes the procedure is the same. Have you tried it?

Hello friends

Thank you @APC_Steve for 2.6.1 tftp raptor firmware file.

And thanks to @ATrabert for upgrade procedure description.

My NetBotz 500 v2 upgraded to 2.6.1 successfully.

If somebody who will read this post will find 2.6.2 (latest image) - I and other owners of this device will be grateful.

For people who will face with same issue: content of upgrade procedure and firmware.

TFTP firmware upgrade procedure:

1) Download the following file and unzip it locally to a temp directory:

Please note this File Link is for 500 Appliances Only.....

http://updates.netbotz.com/patches/bw/2.6.2/tftpRaptor262.zip

2) Extract the files all to one folder and run tftpd32.exe. Tftpd32.exe sets up a temporary tftp server on your PC. It will also show you what your computer’s IP is. This will be necessary for steps below. Make sure there are no firewalls blocking tftp ports.

3) You should do the upgrade via the post-mechanism using Windows Hyper-terminal with these settings:
Bits/Sec=38,400, 8, N, 1, Hardware.
Once you get your hyper-terminal connected, reboot (power-cycle) your bot and stop the boot at the point where its doing the auto-boot countdown, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... (it will tell you to hit enter and just do so before the countdown expires).

4)At this point (NetBotz> prompt should appear) you will type the following in:

setenv serverip (ip_of_pc_running_tftpd32.exe)

*NOTE: Items with a "*" prefix mean you only need to use these commands if the network you're plugged into doesn't support DHCP or because of a firmware issue, the Bot cannot obtain a DHCP address. If you do have DHCP, the appliance should obtain an IP address.

automatically in the prom level code.
*setenv ipaddr (IP of the address you want to assign the bot)
*setenv gatewayip (IP of gateway)
*setenv netmask (Subnet Mask IP)

saveenv (this will save the environmental variables you have just changed)
printenv (this will print out your settings for verification)

The following commands actually run the firmware upgrades on the Bot:

a) postupg (wait for the NETBOTZ> prompt before continuing)

b) kernupg (wait for the NETBOTZ> prompt before continuing)

c) There are 2 options at the point of this final upgrade procedure.
I) rootupg (this final upgrade option will wipe out all Bot configuration)
II) rootupg keep (this option will upgrade but save any configuration on the Bot)
