Updating UPS firmware via EcoStruxure IT Expert?

Do you think - at any time - ESIT will be able to update the UPS firmware and not just the NMC firmware?

I'm just going through the task of updating SMT devices to 17.2 and find that I must log in to each NCM to then update the UPS firmware.

Where is the supposed economy of scale to update ALL devices at one site with the appropriate firmware?

Or is this never going to be a consideration?

Hi @LarryK,

Yes. Updating the Smart-UPS firmware in IT Expert is on the feature backlog. We are hoping to include it a future release.

I am glad to hear that.

Having performed the manual task across my fleet, I am not finding that NONE of the devices show the new UPS firmware in ESIT.

Am I wrong for thinking the Gateway should identify the latest UPS firmware and report it to the ESIT portal?

In response to a support case, I received the following reply:

This feedback regarding UPS firmware updates not showing in ITE has been brought up to developers. To level set we don't currently don't poll the UPS firmware from a given device since ITE doesn't have the ability to update this firmware. That's why you had to perform the "retrieve details" function to manually retrieve the new UPS firmware.

In a future device library update the Gateway will check and update ITE if the UPS firmware has been updated.

So there are two things that are somewhere on the roadmap:  The ability to IDENTIFY the latest UPS firmware on a device via the gateway (instead of the manual effort I had to go through to update EACH SITE'S Devices information).  And the possibility that the UPS firmware could be updated via a web portal instead of individually.

So, what, another two or three (or possibly four) years until this is available?

Can someone - anyone - please let me know what the "value add" of this offering is when I'm spending a huge amount of time manually performing tasks?
