Synology is one of the largest NAS manufacturers Top 3 brands and including china top 10 manufacturers.
We run all sites with APC SMT1500IC UPS backup and need to see if the server are alive - the UPSes are fine for cloud and SNMP v3 protocols:
BUT the Snyology brand is not supported in EcoStruxture Gateway.
That is a major issue for us and we dont have an easy way to monitor both natively in the same software - is there a way to implement the SNMP ping in EcoStruxture as its not supported?
Can I import the MIB files?

Dear David Radszuweit,
As you rightly noted, there is no simple native solution now (I suppose that in the near future, it will not be either).
The fact is that EcoStruxure IT Gateway software and corresponding =SE= EcoStruxure IT Expert cloud service is designed to monitor the engineering infrastructure of data centers (UPS, conditioners, rPDU, environment, and much more), but not IT equipment (servers, storage, switches, etc.).
It is possible that EcoStruxure IT Gateway software will open up the possibility of monitoring IT equipment inherent in it, but when it will not be known... But the ability to import custom MIB or DDF files into this software was initially disabled. Therefore, it is impossible to do this.
Therefore, you need to look for some workarounds so that you can monitor the availability of your NAS, for example through NMC in the Smart Slots of your UPS. This may be an option for reflection.
You can also tell =SE= about your wishes on the special web resource ECOSTRUXURE IT SUPPORT > ECOSTRUXURE IT GATEWAY by clicking Submit a ticket.
If you have more questions, please ask.
With respect.

Submitted.
I really just need to ping the SNMP v3 protocol.
Irritating as it says it finds and logs in to the device but do not support it.

Dear David Radszuweit,
So, this is correct, i.e. EcoStruxure IT Gateway does not have a corresponding DDF-file for this device. And there are no more restrictions.
Let's hope that the developers of this software will hear the wishes of the DCIM community.
With respect.

Hi David,
You can request a DDF creation to support Synology products to our Engineering team.
There are 2 paths for DDF creation today:
How to submit a free DDF creation:
***To support a Modbus device in ITE:
We need you to attempt running a discovery in the Gateway, then enable targeted reads for support (instructions here). We also need the Register Maps.
Please go to: https://ddf.ecostruxureit.com/create
Fill out the information and submit the request.
***To support an SNMP device in ITE:
We need you to attempt running a discovery in the Gateway so we can get the walk, or please generate the walk file manually (instructions on here).
Please go to: https://ddf.ecostruxureit.com/create
Fill out the information and submit the request.
Best regards
