StruxureWare DCE Licenses

Dear Team,

I am installing StruxureWare DCE on customer physical server and not a VM, kindly is it right for me to just purchase the below license and have it monitor 25 devices other than the free 1surveillance & 5device nodes.

StruxureWare Data Center Expert; 25 Node License Only AP9525

Regards,

Felix

Felix,
If your customer is using DCE as a virtual machine, they will need to purchase and install a virtual machine activation key (AP94VMACT).  This will unlock the base 25 nodes and allow for additional licenses to be installed. An AP9525 would not be able to be installed on the server without the AP94VMACT already installed.  If your customer only needs 25 nodes and 1 surveillance node, the VM activation key would be sufficient.

Best Regards,

Cory

Cory, The customer server is a physical server and not a VM, I should have mentioned this. Regards, Felix

Felix, If a physical DCE appliance was purchased, it would come with 1 surveillance node and 25 device nodes on it. Once these are consumed, additional licenses would need to be purchased. Best Regards, The only time the base 25 node license is restricted to 5 nodes, is when a DCE trial is being used (Virtual Machine w/o VM Activation Key). Best Regards, Cory

Hi Cory, Thank you for your reply. The customer opted to buy his own server and needs the DCE installed in it. I have already installed the DCE on the server but am sure with no license installed there is limited nodes. Regards, Felix

Felix, For someone to install DCE on their own server, they would need to use a VMware virtual environment (ESXi) and deploy the virtual machine trial and then purchase the virtual machine activation key. Best Regards, Cory

Cory, StruxureWare DCE is an Operating System on it's own (Linux Debian), this means I can install it on a physical server with no need for a virtualization platform same as the Basic, Standard & Enterprise versions only in this case am using my own server other than the dell servers from schneider. Regards, Felix

Felix, The only supported setups at this time are: - AP9465: Basic DCE Server - AP9470: Standard DCE Server - AP9475: Enterprise DCE Server - AP94VMACT: DCE Virtual machine (VMware environment) The ISO files are only for restoring DCE on APC appliances. If an ISO image is installed on a server that is not an APC appliance, it would not be supported by us. DCE 8.0 will be a software based application that you can install on any OS, according to the server spec. I do not have the official release date for this version. Best Regards, Cory
