I have a NB500 running for many years, with 3 cameras and 4 SP120 and external storage. This morning it stopped running the Webserver and was not visible in Advance View. However, it was pingable and would email out alerts. I used the serial port, but the root password didn't work. I run configreset and do the network configuration. So far, so good. I see all the sensors Now, I did a restore from a backup – and it went off-line again, but started alerting. Any ideas? Starting from scratch will be hours of work. Is there a way to read the encrypted backup file? TIA. Stuart

Hi Stuart,
If you've been able to do a configreset and get the unit up and running, there appears to be no hardware of basic OS related issue. If this happens and you re-import a backup and the original issue happens again, that would lead me to think there is something in the config that is either corrupt of a bad configuration that is somehow overwhelming the bot. I've also never seen the system not allow you in with the root password unless that password has been changed.
What type of alerting is it doing? Is it alerting for a specific sensor? Is it alerting for SNMP device crawlers? How many alerts are we talking about? If you're getting tons of alerts, perhaps that's part of the issue, perhaps the system is simply so backed up with alerts it's freezing.
Without being able to access the bot or it's logs, it will be difficult to see exactly what the bot thinks the issue is. You can try disconnecting sensors, cameras, and pods to see if there is a specific one that is causing this but remember to reconnect them as you had them before. If you can't isolate the issue outside of the software and you can't access the system through AV, web, or root, I see no other way around it than manually re-configuring.
