I have a Netbotz 570, several actually, and they have a Netbotz 155 connected to them. How do I setup the From address for the alarms on the Netbotz 155?
Emails from the Netbotz 570 have the From address of the 570, however email alerts from the 155 come in with a blank from address.
Regards,
J

Hi John,
Can you please verify your configuration? The NetBotz sensor pod 155 connects to a NetBotz appliance such as the 570. The 155 is not capable of sending e-mails on it's own and there is no different configuration for a from address for thresholds on a pod vs thresholds from the main unit. Are you sure it's a 155 and not perhaps a NetBotz 200 with the pod attached or a 355 or 455?

Yes, it is a Netbotz 570 and the email says Pod: Sensor Pod 155. I have setup quite a few Netbotz 450/570's and haven't had this issue. This is the first one with a Sensor Pod 155 connected to it. Where is the "From" address pulled from when a Sensor Pod 155 has an alerting sensor?

Hi John, That's the whole thing, there is no from address associated with the 155. The from address should be associated with the SMTP server. Are the alert actions associated with the 155 using a different to address than those from other sensors so that maybe those e-mails are using the secondary e-mail server? Is the secondary server configured with a from address? What happens if you configure them with the same profile / actions as the other alerts that do work? What version of Botzware and what version of Advenced View are you using? Steve

The From address is the same (no change in the field) between the primary and backup SMTP server. In fact the backup server isn't even configured. I am using AV 4.1 and the Netbotz is using V4_5_0_20150518_1808.

Hi John, I strongly recommend matching the version. If you're running 4.5 on the bot, I would suggest running 4.5 AV. Have you verified that the profile and alert actions are the same? I'll see if I can find a 155 and connect a sensor and send e-mails but since this is the first I've heard of this, I feel it is likely something specifically to do with your config. I'll let you know what I see. Steve.

Hi John, The first thing I would suggest is matching the version of Advanced View and Botzware. Although it usually works, I have seen strange issues occur if they are mis-matched. I also had a chance to test this on a NetBotz and I added a 155. I set an alert action and profile and configured a sensor threshold on the main unit and one on the 155 to both use it. I triggered an alert on both and in both cases, I saw the from address. Here's what I saw from the sensor on the 155: From: "Sensor Pod 155"

This is what I did: I ran AV 4.5, logged into the device. deleted the "From" address, hit ok, opened it back up and re-added the device name. I ran a test email and i received it with the From address showing correct. Then I adjusted the thresholds of the device to alarm. I got the alert email and the cleared email with NO from address... I am stumped. I literally have 6 of these units, all wired/configured the same with this issue. The only units which have Sensor Pod 155's attached. All my other netbotz work ok. I will have to try your "reboot to default" and rebuild the unit. Which is annoying....but if it fixes my issue, then worth it.

Hi John, You can try 4.5.1. That's the only other difference I can see. I set it up from scratch with a new alert action (1 for both thresholds), a new profile, and set up the e-mail config which was not done previously. I just couldn't replicate it. If you are going to reformat, make sure you test with just that new config at least initially and don't import a backup. Resetting the config can be done by using the options in k-base FA158175 http://www.apc.com/site/support/us/en/faq Steve
