Hi Team,
Kindly advise the monitoring options involved in the NetBotz Device Monitoring (Five Nodes) Pack license for servers.
I have a customer who wants to achieve shutdown of servers when the temperature goes well beyond the recommeded threshold.
Is there a solution for this? How can I achieve it?
Regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,
The device monitoring node pack is to scan SNMP devices, you can't shutdown servers in this way.
If you have an APC UPS, the easiest way to action this is to connect a temperature sensor to an NMC with environmental monitoring, and use Powerchute Network Shutdown installed on the servers mapped to a high temperature event on the card.

Hi Felix,
On the SNMP side, David is correct, we do not offer control options. The 5 node device pack however also allows the addition of IPMI devices. If the server has a BMS card (or whatever the vendor is calling it) for IPMI communications and that card supports options such as soft reboot, etc, During addition of the IPMI device, you have the option to add these as sensors if available on the target system:
You can then right click the sensor to see it has the option to power off:
Once you have that configured, you can create an alert action:
Finally, simply ad the action to a profile to initiate the shutdown based upon whatever threshold you'd like. Please be careful, you don't want to turn a system off for invalid reasons, You need to be careful with this one.

Hi Steve, Thanks for this, I had no idea there was an option to trigger a Soft Power-Down from a Netbotz appliance connected to a BMC card. This is useful info to remember for the future
