We are looking into sending traps from DCE to HPe Operations Manager environment. Can someone list the positives and/or negatives of using these two trap sending methods? What's the difference between the two?

Hi Dan,
If you search k-base (here) for this k-base, FA236815, it outlines some of the differences so you can see the data itself. As for which is better, that's a little tougher. I believe if you'd dealing with the pre-configured alerts such as with APC devices, you will get equal amounts of information. You may have a preference to how it is presented and again FA236815 may help you there, If you're using a lot of manually created thresholds, I'm not sure that as much information will be sent using the alarm action trap.
Pretty much any alarm can be configured to send either trap. The NMS integration should send any alert you see in DCE as long as it is set to the proper severity level. The SNMP alarm action needs to be added to a notification policy or multiple notification policies should you have your server configured that way. You then need to associate that notification policy to the manually created thresholds in Alarm Configuration/ Threshold Alarm Configurations or to a device for the pre-configured alarms in the Alarm Configuration/Device Alarm Configurations section.

Hi,
we use AZETI Sonarplex as NMS, to pull traps directly from Netbotz appliances however only one Netbotz 455 worked(ping OK and MIB scan successful and we are getting values in AZETI) however Ping is ok for the rest of them but we can not read the MIB or configure any OID.
Would you have an idea what could be the problem
Thanks

Hi Amine, Is this related to the initial question in some way? If not, you may want to post a separate issue for future questions. If the NetBotz is on the network, make sure you've logged into the appliance and verified SNMP is running, verify you're using the correct community names etc, There cal also be issues with networks blocking SNMP so you may want to try connecting with a crossover cable to remove the network as a possible issue. You also mentioned you "can not read the MIB or configure any OID." Reading is again something to troubleshoot such as on the network. Configuring an OID is usually referred to as a write. NetBotz OIDs can not be written. Another thing to consider is the version NetBotz appliance, the 3xx, 4xx, and 5xx series are tru NetBotz and use the NetBotz Mib and the 1.3.6.1.4.1.5528 OID. If you have NetBotz Rack access or the NetBotz 200, that would use the APC Powernet Mib 1.3.6.1.4.1.318. Steve
