Looking for a way to manually add location to a device in DCE
We have an issue where we are trying to put a location in DCE for our remotely monitored PDU's. There is no where in the configuration of the PDU to place a location that DCE will pick up. Is there a way to manually add the location to DCE for each device?

Hi Laura,
The standard location field / column is as you surmised a field that is taken from the device itself. Just like the amperage or voltage values, this is not something you can edit in the DCE user interface.
You can however add your own location field for any or all devices by using the custom property field. Simply right click a device and then select "Add Custom Property":
You can add a custom property key and a value:
Your system will then tell you that your key was created:
And you can set the system up to create a new column for custom property keys under client preferences:
Or by using the column tool in the upper right, you can select what properties to add as columns:
The next time you go in to add a custom property, the key you previously created will be available.
Then after doing all of this, I remembered we have a video k-base so
I've linked that here as well 😃
Thanks,
Steve
