I have 4 same model ABB UPS. 3 snmpv1. I ran walkfile and ddf file received worked fine.
3rd UPS interface interface was replaced for a new one (older is not supported now) it just supports snmpv2 and snmpv3. I configured snmpv3 (no password/no encription) and ran walkfile. With ddf received, UPS is not discovered.
I have tried configuring authentication both on UPS and DCE and UPS is not discovered.
I have also tried configuring v2 on UPS and v1 on DCE and UPS is not discovered.
Help please

Hi Oscar,
What version of DCE are you running?
Have you tried discovering any other devices using SNMP version 3 with that specific DCE?
Does the UPS' network card report when invalid security is used? For instance, an APC network management card will log errors when a system tries to connect to it using incorrect SNMP credentials. If this device can do that as well, we can at least verify that the get requests are getting to the device.
Is there a way you could run a packet capture at the DCE server side of the network to verify it is sending the correct info and in turn receiving it as well?
This knowledge base document FA226273 might also be helpful in troubleshooting this issue.
Thanks,
Steve.

Hi, I am using DCE 7.4.1. I have no other device using SNMPv3. There is no logs on UPS about security issues.
I have not tried to capture traffic. However, every device is in the same subnetwork and they use the same port for SNMPv1 traffic, so it should work with no problems. We ran walkfile tool to get mib configuration on v3 and it worked fine

Hi,
DCE 4.7.1
There is no other SNMP v3 device to discover, so I cannot test it
UPS does not report any error or log
I have not way to access to the network to filter the traffic. I should ask my customer to try.
On other link (on conceptpower device support) I have passed the following information:
Hi, actually there is no error. just the device is not found. Attached you have screenshots of detection panel and the device is not added to the list. IP address is 10.253.113.242. I have tried configuring snmp on v1 and v3 on DCE (v2 and v3 on UPS). On devices list you can see the 3 UPS found because their interface runs snmp v1

On my devices request (concptpower) I received an answer that snmp v3 is not supported on DCE v7.4.1. However manual says snmp v 1 and snmp v3 are supported, and there are options on device seach to select one version or the other. Moreover, the dev_walk.cmd has options to search on v1 or v3 snmp devices. I got walkfiles using it, and then a ddf was sent to me.
I am not able to write an answer to that comment. I have escalated it to my local Schneider contact, but they have not got answer yet. Any place where it is reported snmp v3 is nor supported? or any idea for next steps?

Hi Oscar,
Do you have a link to that comment so I can check it out? SNMP version 3 is absolutely supported in all versions of DCE.

Right now I just wanted to verify who was telling you we didn't support SNMP version 3 and make sure they understand that we do. I have forwarded this thread to the appropriate people to address that.
As for not being able to discover, this thread seems to have gone on for some time. I'm wondering if direct phone contact with technical support may not lead to a quicker resolution. If SNMP version 1 works, we know it's not the DDF. It would then be either the configuration of the device, of DCE, or an issue with one of the 2. Testing with SNMP version 3 with and without some of the extra protocols may help.
