            An IA/IB/IC Saturation condition exists

            Hi,

My client has been receiving warnings on his DCE 7.4.0 on monitored power meters (different Power Logic meters) stating that there is either an IA/ IB/ IC Saturation condition that exists. We have not been able to identify anything as yet and there is no related documentation on this.

We have looked at reports on current for the different phases but have not been able to identify anything that stands out. Any suggestions??

            Hi Kevin,

I have seen these from PM710. It is related to current reading out of range (same as saturation as in the manual). You can have a look on the kb below. You might want to check on the current transducer rating and DPM setup of the unit.

            Hope this helps,

            Tj

            Hi Kevin,

The only way DCE would know about an alarm of this type would be based on the return of one of the monitored values. Power meters are usually monitored using Modbus (easier to figure out as SNMP assigns DDF, you assign the DDF in Modbus)  but in any case, the DDF used for this device should indicate what polled value causes DCE to show this alarm.

If you can figure out what DDF and value are causing this alarm, then you should take a look at the device's data...register map or MIB. You should be able to at least see what DCE is. Is the value actually coming from the device? Does the register map or mib indicate that this value does coincide  with a "Saturation condition"?

Basically you need to find out if DCE sees what the DDF reports as this condition and verify the device's data confirms it. Then you can say it's a DDF issue or a device issue.

            Steve
