AD group association with DCE web portal

I have successfully integrated LDAP/AD with our installation of DCE.  This has proven to work without issue.  I am in the process of expanding use of DCE, beyond the thick client, using the Web client.  I am having an issue with creating a web view by AD group, making the association.  Whereas I have the group defined in DCE, but the user access is provided through AD association to the group, within AD, but the view is user based, correct ?   Is there a way to create a web view by group name ?  That way I can pre-create the web view for my customers, and minimize training for use and access.

Hi Ned,

Sorry no, the web view is only user based. If all users need the same view, sadly it must be recreated manually. I can add this as an enhancement request however I can make no promises on the likelihood of this feature actually being added.

Please keep in mind that different users may be able to see different device groups and even have different rights within a device group which will make this even more user specific.

Thanks for this answer, and I wont spend much more time on it.  Please: create a future enhancement request, and I understand no promises.  Just to note, the functionality I am looking to rollout is only view functionality, in a standard look and feel, by folder in DCE.   - no edit rights.   The webview is much nicer and more robust than the thick client, in my customers opinion.

Keep in mind people / groups can also have view access or no view access for surveillance as well...it's just complex potentially.

Hi Steve,

I'm just wondering if there has been any movement on this request.  We also have a need / desire to be able to create a DCE Web Template / View that multiple users (via AD authorization) can have, instead of having to customize each user's web view.
