2 factor (step) authenthication with APC rack access

Hi all.

Is it possible to implement two factor authentication based on APC Rack Access solution (AP9361 or smth)?

Access to the rack should be granted only if two HID-cards with relevant permission were involved?

Another option is that single HID-card grant access, but if complementary HID-card not applied in a certain period of time than alarm is generated.

Like in action movies than two people open the door using two keys at the same time.

Thanks

Hello Nick,

Unfortunately, the latest version of either AP9361 or the NBPD0171 doesn't support this type of authentication. Currently, a single card either allows or denies access to a rack. I will be happy to submit a feature request for future consideration.

Thank You

Victor,

Can we put this in for a feature request on the current AP9361 HID, as an option to enable requiring two approved enabled HID cards to be required to open the cabinet.

Hi Nick,

Although we don't have an option where 2 cards are required, we do have an option for an "authentication card swipe". With this option, you set up a user's card so that it requires this swipe. When that card is swiped, another card that has full access is also required to swipe right after. The second card could have swiped alone but this feature shows that a user with lesser rights swiped and was allowed by user #2 to gain access to the rack. Please note that this option is only available in the NetBotx 4xx/5xx with the rack access pod 170 and not the AP9361. If you do require that neither work by themselves, as Victor mentioned, an enhancement request can be put in for such a feature.
