I was wondering is it possible to have a dynamic faceplate for same devices as in the DCS, so that when I press on a device it opens a faceplate with all the required data and when pressing on another device the faceplate should update with the data of the new device?

Mimic scripting using inbuilt functions can't change the expression behind the animation, just the literal value of the animation. So you'd have to keep running some script to update the values manually. Calling the ViewX COM object to modify the configuration from mimic scripts sounds very problematic in this case so maybe best avoided...
In theory indirect animations could work, but they may put too much of a load on the database for it to be worth it depending on number of clients and number of faceplates. Something to check out in the help though and see.

I do not think that I have tried changing Animation references of object on a mimic, but I think that it is possible to use mimic scripts to change them. I mostly read and change the Text or Visibility of mimic objects.
If the items in your database are grouped logically and the points named the same you'd probably be better served by making a template with your mimic in it and use relative references on all the mimic objects. Then create instances of the template in appropriate locations in your database and display those.
