I'm trying to reinstall powerchute apc 2.11 software (personal edition) under vista x64 and i get partway (27%) through the installer and this error appears (this appears to be a windows error based on some searching):
Component: Application
File Group: App Executables
File: (blank)
Error: Catastrophic Failure
I'm not sure what to do to get around this?
I've even re-downloaded the software and tried again to no avail..
Any thoughts?

Currently Vista 64 is not supported by powerchute personal edition 2.1.1, however we may support it in the future. You can check the software/firmware downloads page in the future but at this time I do not have an eta.
There is an alternative though, while Microsoft has disabled the native ups shutdown options in vista, usb ups shutdown is still possible. Please use the link below to a corresponding APC knowledge base that has more information on this:

The problem you're going to run into, is that first, there is no support for x64. Second, there is no support for Vista SP1 (even at a non x64 level).
Any problems that popped up with anything that was working fine prior to SP1 can only be attributed to that upgrade at this time.

I dont understand this.. it (this version) was working fine under Vista x64 in the past.. is this something due to sp1?
Did sp1 break its ability to work?
Thanks
