XS 1000 Not charging?

I got a brand new Back-UPS XS 1000 for Christmas, and finally got around to hooking it up, but it doesn't seem to be charging the battery. The self test passes, and powerchute software says it's charging, but the battery percentage continues to go down. I had it plugged in for a day while with the unit turned off and no devices running off of it. When I first plugged it in it read 30% battery and it drained while "charging". I have the unit it on right now, again with nothing plugged into it so no load, it started with 24% and it's still going down.

No to your inquiries. I hollowed the link that you had provided to local help. Since the unit is out of warranty, I was not allowed to go any further. (Unless I missed a cue someplace). Form the lack of remedial responses in this thread I assume that it was always considered a dead issue. It probably should have be elevated to S-E as a possible recall issue.

I seem to be living a nightmare with this unit too. I need to understand what is going on.

Is there a fix for batteries not charging? I have tried different batteries, and they all do not charge.

I have had one of these units for a while, and it worked fine for over a year. All of a sudden, my computers screen resolution went completely wrong, and two out of the 3 monitors I had were black. The middle monitor was working but the resolution was off. Another strange thing, both my Video cards (Geforce Titans) were not visible in the display properties of the device manager. I reinstalled my Nvidia drivers to no avail, the Titan cards had vanished. Then came panic time, I called my local PC repair guy who told me this could be a motherboard power supply etc, or that maybe I was infected with a virus. Or were the titans bad? both of them?

Next morning I take in my PC and when the guy loads up windows 7 everything seemed to be fine, we go to the device manager, and sure as hell, both Titans were there.

I thought i was going crazy, got back home, plugged in PC, again, 2 of the 3 screens would not turn on, and the video cards were nowhere to be found in the display properties.

After a few minutes of additional cold sweats and dry mouth, I look to the floor and what do I see? An APC pro 1000. Could this be the culprit? No surely not, how can a UPC make video cards disappear from the PC's device manager? In a desperate attempt, I power down the pc and replace the APC with another back up we have here. Low and behold all 3 screens started working and the computer was 100% functional again. A huge sigh of relief. I mean HUGE!!!!!!!!!

As for the APC pro 1000 I plugged it into another outlet and turned it back on, and it started chirping like mad, with FO2 written on it. I wish it had done that before when my GPU'S were not showing...

Since this unit was a couple of years old I immediately thought it was a bad battery, so I purchased a brand new battery of of Amazon, in the meantime Scheneider customer support were very helpful and they sent out a replacement UPC with a new battery.

Now this new UPC i have here DOES NOT CHARGE THE BATTERY, I have left it plugged in for 3 days and the battery level is only two bars!! I need to get some closure on this matter. Anyone know what is going on?

Hello Jonathan, not sure how to add to thread so I'll reply here. Having the same situation with my xs1000. Blinking battery indicator, no charging. I've had this one for several years as an alarm system back up. Not really checked on it until our power went out due to hurricane irma. It's less than 3 years old I'm sure.

Can I have this replaced or wh do I contact about it.

Thanks,

Pat
