Turn on New UPS without Fully Connecting Battery Cause Damage???

What could potentially happen to attached equipment if you turn on a new APC-1500XS without opening the battery compartment to connect the internal battery (I believe only one battery lead is connected from the factory)? Assume the connected equipment consists of several PC’s and these PC’s are turned off and connected to the surge+battery outlets at the time the UPS is turned on. What would be the potential outcome of a scenario like this one? Could the PC’s be damaged in anyway? Could this cause a PSU to go up in smoke?

Also, would the outcome change if the PC’s were powered on without the internal battery in the UPS fully connected? I assume this scenario is part of your product testing.

the UPS should turn on and the replace battery LED would be flashing. the UPS would also make a chirping tone to tell you the battery needs to be connected. if this is a BX1500, there is only one Anderson type connector for the battery. I believe the BX1500LCD model may have the leads you are talking about - where only one is connected. it should still power on though I believe and provide output power, it would just make a lot of noise telling you the battery is disconnected.

there should be no damage to equipment if you dont connect the battery, just a lot of audible tones and flashing from the UPS.
