Hi im running a desktop server pc with a p4 3.2ghz, a low budget graphics card and a raid controller with 10 drives connected. When the pc is in idle state, everything is fine (UPS load is 34.4%) but when i start some jobs on the server the UPS cuts power after 30-90 minutes. It immediately restores power but the server is shutdown hard. The UPS load when i ran the jobs is +- 40% which should be ok.
Is the server too heavy for this UPS? Or is the UPS broken?
Here is a screenshot from my datalog: http://i39.tinypic.com/bgdwye.jpg
its in idle state, then at 3:11 i start a job, and at 3:21 it cuts power.

Yes, i use the USB connection, and yes when the server is idle not a problem, only when the load increases.

interesting. am i right in saying you are using USB with this (versus a serial connection)? that noise you are hearing sounds like the output relay.
so this only happens when your load jumps up?

do you hear any noises or see any LEDs flashing on the UPS? is the UPS itself rebooting where you see all the LEDs go off on the front and then it turns back on? or is it definitely just cutting the output power and then turning it back on, meaning the UPS itself is staying on the entire time?
can you show us what you see in the event log when this happens. the data log was helpful.
