Second UPS failing with F02 error

Hi there,

A month ago, my UPS BR1200G-FR which was in function from 5 months suddenly failed with error F02.
The way it happen was strange : One night, before going to sleep, I switch off the UPS and at the morning, when I tried to switch it on, the UPS start to beep continuously and display error F02.
I then contact the APC support and after several discussion, they come to the conclusion that the UPS was broken and they send me a new one in replacement (thanks to APC).

I receive the new one in august and put it in function the 2nd of august 2011.
This morning, I switch off the UPS before going at work and when I switch it on 5 hours later, the UPS beep continuously and display error F02 (so, the new UPS has worked 6 days).

As with the first UPS, I tried to follow the procedure given by the technical support to try to solve out the F02 problem:
# Switch off the UPS
# Unplug the UPS from the wall outlet
# Unplug all plugs connected to the UPS outlets (disconnect the UPS load)
# Remove the battery
# Push on the central switch on/off button for 30 seconds
# Reconnect the battery
# Plug the UPS to the wall
# Switch it on

Strangely, the same phenomenon occurs for the two UPS, that is to say:
The first time I apply the above procedure, during step 5, I can hear a dying beep as if the UPS was discharging itself.
The UPS switch on correctly, no F02 error anymore!
But than I switch it off and when I switch it on again, again I get the F02 error (still no load connected to the UPS)!

More strange is the following:
The second time I retry the above procedure, at step 5, I can't ear anymore the dying beep and the UPS systematically generate the F02 error.
So, the UPS is unusable.

The strange thing here is that both UPS behave EXACTLY the same way!

Now, the problem with the first UPS occurs a few days after the replacement of my PC power supply.
Indeed I bought and mount a new Seasonic X-760W.
However, my PC is very stable and nothing let presume that the power supply has a problem and is the source of the UPS problem.

The UPS load is between 180 to 200W.
All UPS outlets (6) are used.

I also notice like if there is a small component moving in the UPS itself (a small noise of something falling when i return the UPS to disconnect the battery).
I notice that with the first UPS and also notice that noise with the second one when it came out of the box!
Is that noise normal?

I'm now perplex and start to have some doubt of the correct functioning of the BR1200G-FR UPS model.
I' fear that even if I replace it, I get the problem a third time.

What do you think and what do you suggest?

Thanks.

Hi superloupiot, the fact that you hear some componets moving out of the box does not sound like a good sign. I would suggest reaching out to tech support to see if there is something wrong with that unit (it is possible something could have happened during shipping). Hope this helps.
