PowerChute Personal Edition - Windows native power management
Hello.
I'm trying to install PowerChute Personal 3.0.2 into a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
The installation throws this error:
Status: Disabling Windows native power management
Error: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks

Hi,
Sounds like there is a missing DLL or possible the needed .NET version is not available. PowerChute Personal Edition requires a minimum of .NET 2.0. Windows 7 should have Net framework v2.0, v3.0, v3.5, v4, and v4.0 installed. Microsoft offers a Knowledge Base document that explains how to check to see what .NET is installed https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh925568(v=vs.110).aspx
If the proper .NET is installed then the issue is system corruption. You should read FAQ FA159740. The bottom section of the FAQ discussed how to check the system files. If the system fix from Microsoft does not resolve the issue the OS should be rebuilt. If you don't want to rebuild the system you can use the native power options instead of PowerChute to power the OS down in the event of a power failure. FAQ FA159653 explains how to set up native power option on Windows.
Another option is to APCUPSD instead of PowerChute. APCUPSD does not require the same DLLs so it should work.
