And the first thing everyone is going to ask, yes, I have the printer on a Surge Only outlet
I have the printer, a Brother laser printer, hooked up to one of the surge only ports, just like I had it before. And before the battery replacement, when the printer would go into warm-up, there was nothing. Now when the printer goes into warm-up, I get three beeps and oddly the input voltage shows zero(!) and the battery indicator sometimes goes from five bars to four bars.
Now just to be thorough (retired engineer here) I switched the printer to a battery backup outlet and turned it on. As expected, I got a single continuous beep, which is what I think I would expect as the printer was drawing too much wattage. I placed it back on the Surge Only outlet.
And this is not a consistent behavior. If the printer hasn't been off for too long, when it starts warming up there is no beeping but the input voltage does drop. It seems that the beeping only occurs if the printer has been off for quite a while and therefore has cooled down.
So I'm thinking here that this isn't a big problem, maybe just something that is coincident with the printer pulling so much power that the input voltage to the APC drops to zero which causes the three beeps? The PDF users guide and operating manual don't reference anything that causes three beeps. I'm just wondering if someone else has come across this behavior.

Hi James,
This is definitely an issue with the current draw from the Laser Printer. This device should never be connected to the UPS Battery Outlets or Surge Only Outlets.
Please check the following document regarding Laser Printers.
