I recently updated the firmware on my NMC2 (9630) which was a pain. The only way I could get it to work was to ftp the files to the NMC and place them in the root directory. My understanding is that the BIN files are no longer needed. My issues is no delete command works to remove them. I’ve tired both FTP And Telenet and both fail. Any idea how to get rid of them so
i can free up the space they take up?

You can simply format the NMC by pressing and holding the reset button for 20+ seconds or until you see the orange LED come on and turns solid than release.
The format process will take approximately two minutes to complete. Once the unit is back to a factory state you can access the webpage using: User apc / Password: apc
Set up all the necessary settings if you didn’t back up the configuration file.
Im not sure why you wouldn’t use the firmware upgrade Wizard instead? The requirement is obviously FTP must be enabled in the NMC.
When the firmware wizard is launched enter IP Address, Super User Credentials, select FTP (Not) SCP and do not enable save Logs.
Once the firmware has completed and the pop up message appears. Wait ten seconds before pressing on the pop up message.
Allow 30-60 seconds for the unit to reboot.

Firmware wizard kept failing. The files persist after the format command and the holding the reset button as you described.

If the format was completed successful the NMC would be in a OEM state and need to be set up again was that the case here?!?
Any files would have also been deleted from the NMC.
It doesn’t sound like the format procedure was completed successfully so try again.
