Do not see this in documentation, FAQ, Knowledge Base, or Discussion Forums.
Just bought a new ES750. I charged for 20 hours. When plug it into the wall and turn it on, the indicator LED blinks 32 times (no beep tones), then one click noise and light stays steady. My one year old ES550 sometimes blinks once or twice. My three year old ES550 with a one year old replacement battery sometimes blinks once or twice. Because I saw nothing in the documentation or knowledge base I always assumed this once or twice was normal and was not a signal for anything.
Same thing happens with load and with nothing plugged into the three UPS units.
Same thing happens at four different outlets on different circuits.
I did not load PowerChute software with any of them.
I traded emails with APC eSupport, but they did not reply after I pointed out there was no clicking, and the ES550s did not blink on same outlets.
Do you have any insight, or information about what this aways 32 blinks means?
A problem with the ES750 or the power into the house?
Why ES750 blinks 32 times, but the ES550s do not?
Thank you

Hi Bob,
I have asked around and one of our Product Specialist have said that it sounds like the unit is performing it's initial intelligent battery module self-test. The click that you hear following the self-test is the Master Control feature turning on.
Hope this helps.

Hi boblgnj, are these lights flashing immediately after you turn the unit on or are they happening throughout the day with the unit running online with good input power? If any of these units have software in use (most likely powerchute personal edition) I would make sure the alarms are turned on for these units in case they are making some type of transfer.

Thank you for the input. The light blinks as soon as unit is turned on. There are no blinks and no clicks throught the rest of the day. I have never loaded PowerChute software in conjunction with any UPS unit.

Hi Bob,
Is the flashing/blinking only happens when you turn the unit on or does it happen any time of the day? If this is happening the moment you turn the unit on, it is possible that what you see is the unit performing a self-test. Our UPS performs a self-test the moment you turn it on and repeats the process every 14 days since the last self-test.

As I said above only happens at turn on, never during the rest of the day. If the unit blinks during a "self test" I would expect the manual, and FAQ to say so, and many experts in discussion forums to know so. The other ES550s I have never did this.
In 4 email exchanges with the APC tech people they only asked the same 3 questions over and over, and did not respond to my answers. My only choice seems to be assume it is defective, and see if the return process forces any better info out of APC. If I learn any facts I will update the thread.
