Unit purchased 12/2020, original battery was replaced a week ago with new from Amazon (APC store). Today, power briefly dropped twice due to minor wind storm. Second time, unit failed with F04 error. Strong electronics smell. After unplugging everything and the unit from the wall, I turned it on and got F02. Nothing plugged into it appears to be damaged. I disconnected and reconnected the battery (no obvious issue with the battery) and tried again and got another F02. I plugged it back into the wall and got F04.
Is there anything worth testing here, or do I need to move to another product? It sucks that I just forked out $$ for a proper replacement battery.

A F02 error is a (On battery output short) whereas a F04 error is a (clamp short).
Generally speaking, if the system declares a F02 error it may indicate one or more connected devices are shorted. Removing all loads from the unit and adding them back one at a time to identify which device is the process of elimination.
A F04 clamp short is a catastrophic hard fault which can not be cleared. As such the options are to repair or replace the hardware.
