Battery/monitor not working when uplugged from wall

I have the UPS BE750G unit. And what it is doing is when I get a power outage the unit seems to run fine (pop window comes up and says on battery backup) my whole system is still up and running then the power usual comes back on and charges back up. Now the problem I have if I create the outage by unplugging unit everything loses power but my computer?? Can’t I do this to see what would happen in storm if I lose power to test unit for shutdown make sure it works 😄 ?

Computer is on the master side and all components are on the monitor side. Program says load on battery is 95 Watts

Posted above “PowerChute Personal Edition 1.5 version is program running as shutdown software” This is your software right? I have uninstalled this do to it very slow to boot on startup of computer and it not XP software. Says 98 & ME on download page. I would really like the updated XP software, but I feel this will not happen cause of Windows 7 that is coming out and your Vista software will work with that OS.

Check your notification settings under Configuration, for this problem make sure that the Enable battery backup alarms at all times is selected.
This does work if I change and save and redo the test above. (#4) ?
4. If done correctly your UPS should emit four beeps every thirty seconds (this tells you that the UPS has entered the On Battery state), then plug the following devices one at a time.

I like it to only respond when system is on and running that was the setup I had.

Daniel, this may sounds like a simple question. Does the UPS make 4 beeps every 30 seconds? If so, you might have plugged your equipment to any one of the Surge only outlets. Please view the attached screen shot to make sure if your connections are right.

Techie, Yes I do get the 4-beeps when unplugged from the wall (both green lights are on and the power one shuts off during beeping) Just like the manual says it should. They hooked up so when I shutdown my computer all my stuff goes off ? (that what I like about it no more power buttons to push) so computer is on master and monitor, Internet, speakers…etc on controlled by master) thx for the screen shot nice 😉 But now the weird part why when the power goes out is my monitor, internet stay on?? The program says it is on battery backup and the house is dark so I would believe it on backup. I would think it the same as unplugging from the wall, but as I tested it shuts down and I lose all but battery side as power. Let me know if need anything more. If i lose power again i will take screen dump of it and get which lights are on unit.

I would like to ask you few questions that might help us troubleshoot the problem that you are having.

1. What are those things that are connected/plugged in on the Master/Battery Backup side?
2. What are those things that are connected/plugged in on the Controlled By Master/Surge Protection side?
3. Whenever you are doing the pull plug test, do you hear any kind of tone/beep coming from the UPS?
4. What are the lights that are on while the UPS is Online? On Battery? Is the Master Enable LED on?

The BE750G is one of our UPS that does have the Master Enable feature for energy saving. If this feature is enabled, the controlled by master outlets state would depend on the state of the equipment connected on the master outlet. But remember that when you loose power or the UPS goes into battery everything that are on the controlled by master outlet/surge protection outlet will loose power.

Computer is on master battery side.
Monitor, Internet, Speakers is on controlled by master.
Yes did test before this text and do get the 4-beeps both lights are green (power light goes off during beeping) the controlled by master shuts loses power.
Both green, both green, yes enable is on.

Like I said to techie above I like the unit for the auto monitoring of components if I shut my computer down that all I do walk anyway and all my (Monitor, Internet, Speakers…etc.) shut down by the UPC losing power.

Now here is the weird part why? Does all my components stay on when I do lose power and the program is saying I’m on battery backup (again the rest of the house is dark so would be true) the only thing I didn’t monitor was what stay on the unit itself and if I get beeps. Cause I usually getting candles or some sort of light in house. Like I said if it happens again I will take screen dump and monitor if beeps and lights on unit and post back here. But I thought that is the same as unplugging unit from wall that why I posted my comments. Cause I was going to try and see if the system went thought the shutdown in the program as I watched by unplugging from wall just to double check program.
I always shut down myself or power would come back on and I didn’t need to. Let me know if anymore things I can check or look at.

PowerChute Personal Edition 1.5 version is program running as shutdown software.
Would like to run the vista 2.2 looks pretty good program, but windows don’t like it.

Thanks for your reply. As you've mentioned from your last post, you've simulated a power outage/blackout and the UPS does it job by providing battery power on the Battery side and turning off the controlled by master/surge only outlets. But this doesn't happen when you actually loose power coming from your power company, based from your statements when power gets cut-off on the entire house the UPS would still provide backup power on all the outlets.

Aside from doing the pull-plug test what other troubleshooting steps have you done so far? When did you first encountered this problem on that UPS? Have you had a chance to talk to APC's Phone Support? Is that the only UPS that you have in your house?

The only other things I can think to do is trip the circuit breaker for that plug and see what happens. Tired the above and does same thing all power shuts off expect computer as should. I don’t get it I “lost” I know I seen the pop-up window that tells you your on battery backup when power goes out & if I didn’t see that why is my monitor still on it should shutoff ?

I first encountered this about week ago when I wanted to test the shutdown software to see if would work on own. No have not called anyone yet. Just thought it was weird that you have power when lights go out, and when you want to recreate the issue it shutdown per manual. Yes only have one UPS in house.

Be cool to have that as feature computer + monitor on battery backup and do the master controller surge still. I know I can put my monitor on the battery side and run backup, but it won’t shut down with system.

Here are the things that I would like you to do on that UPS.

# Remove all the equipment connected on the UPS.
# Turn the UPS off and unplug it from the power source/wall outlet.
# While the UPS is unplug, please press and hold the power button of the UPS. You'll usually hear a short and a long beep, as soon as you hear the long beep release the power button.
# If done correctly your UPS should emit four beeps every thirty seconds (this tells you that the UPS has entered the On Battery state), then plug the following devices one at a time.
#* Master Outlet - CPU or System Unit
#* Battery Outlet - Monitor
#* Surge Only Outlet/Controlled by Master Outlets - Internet/Modem and Speaker
After doing the steps above, make sure that the Master Enable button LED is lit and then turn the devices ON one at a time. Remember not to plug the UPS to the wall outlet while doing these steps. Let me know what devices would turn ON or if the Surge Only Outlets would provide power to the Internet and speaker. Normally only the devices plugged into the Master and Battery Backup outlets would have power this is how the UPS should work.

If you are using the Controlled by Master feature of the UPS it cuts the power off on the Controlled by Master outlet of the UPS once it detected that the equipment connected on the Master outlet is no longer drawing current. While if the controlled by master outlets detected that there's is an equipment drawing current from the master outlet it would then activate the controlled outlets. This condition would work provided that the UPS is receiving good input power from the wall outlet and the master enable button/function is being used. Please be aware that if there is no power on your wall outlet or the UPS has been unplugged from the wall outlet everything that is on the controlled by master and surge only outlet would not turn on since these outlets are not connected to a battery.

1. OK did that unhooked everything
2. Ok did that unplugged from wall
3. Ok did that held power button down get the long short beeps released on long
4. Ok now this is where things change I don't get the beeps, but the light blinks every 30-seconds (it doesn't make noise till i plug something in and powered up)
yes hooking up everything and turning on units the computer is the only thing that powers up and i get the balloon that says "APC battery backup no longer receiving AC utility power" Your battery backup is now supply battery power to your equipment. Also get the little battery on the icon in the task bar. << had to run monitor hot to see this.

If you are using our software please check your notification settings under Configuration, for this problem make sure that the Enable battery backup alarms at all times is selected. Since the only device that is connected on the battery backup side is your computer/CPU that would be the only device that will receive power when your unit goes into battery state.
