I've had this UPS for years. The projected runtime was always 72 minutes in the day, 68 minutes at night.
1.5 weeks ago, I lost power for about 2 hours.
After the power came back on and the battery charged, the projected runtime was 39 - 45 minutes.
I then bought a new battery, and replaced it. It's been more than a day, and even with the new battery, the runtime is 39 - 45, about 1/2 of what it used to be.
If I have to disconnect equipment from the UPS, how do I disconnect the equipment so I don't lose power to the connected devices?

Whenever the battery cartridge is replaced the following steps need to be completed to obtain the most accurate information and operational runtime.
- The battery installation date must be updated in APC PCPE / PCSS software. Doing so resets internal counters and charging tables.
Self Test: Manually initiate a self test either through the LCD MENU / APC PCPE / PCSS software.
Battery Calibration: Manually initiate this procedure with at least 30% attached load and let it complete and recharge.
The operational runtime will be more reflective on the display. Keeping in mind this value is variable based on battery SOC, health, usage, temperature, load.

I tried to install PCPE, but during installation, it says it can't find the battery backup connected to my PC.
That's because I don't have my PC connected to the APC Backup Pro. I didn't want to put that kind of load on the Backup Pro.
I'm not sure if there's 5 or 4 non battery backup slots on the Backup Pro. But I have all 5 slots occupied on what I think is the non backup side.
How do I do a self test through the LCD Menu?
In other news, I called APC tech support. They had me disconnect all connected devices, disconnect the Backup Pro from the power outlet, disconnect the battery. Then hold the power button for 5 seconds. That was supposed to do an internal reset.
Then connect everything back, and monitor the recharge time.

The UPS obviously needs to be connected to the target computer running the APC Power Chute (PCPE) / PCSS) software via USB. The computer system doesn't need to be powered by the UPS at all. If there are none protected outlets available on the UPS you can use those.
Once the two systems have been connected you can manually initiate the Self Test via Power Chute. Let the battery recover to 100% SOC. Than follow up with manually initiating the (Battery Calibration) with at least 30% attached load via Power Chute.
Let the battery cartridge within the system recover to 100% SOC and the display will be more accurate *relative* to the applied load, temperature, battery health, etc.
NOTE: The self test is completed every time the system is first powered up. I have provided a link to the full users manual which calls out the same information on page 9 here:

Since my last response in November, I ended up just getting a new Backup Pro 1500S. Which came with a new battery.
But, I still have my old Backup Pro 1500S and old battery, lying around.
Should I take the old one, and connect it to my PC, and then run Power Chute?
Do I connect it to my PC via a USB A to USB A cable? If so, I need to get a cable that has that connection on both ends.

You would need a USB Type A / B Cable. Type A connects to your computer system. Type B connects to the UPS.
