I recently purchased a BackUPS BX1500M. I have some network equipment and a PC connected to the battery outlets of the UPS. I have the UPS connected to the PC via USB and the latest version of powerchute installed on the PC. Currently, powerchute is configured to power down the server after two minutes to provide as much battery power as possible to the network gear. With everything on, I am running at about 40% capacity on the UPS.
Testing the setup out last night, I removed AC power. Powerchute powered down the PC after two minutes as expected. At this point the network equipment is still running on battery. A minute or so later, I plugged AC power back in. When the UPS switched from battery back to AC, it disconnected power completely from all UPS outlets for a split second, effectively rebooting the network equipment. I was expecting a seamless transition off of battery back to AC. Is the UPS defective or do I have something misconfigured?

Hi Zach,
Once PowerChute commands your PC to shut down, the UPS must cut power, at least temporarily, to bring the PC back up. For this to work, the PC's BIOS must be configured to turn the PC on after a power failure. So PowerChute also commands the UPS to start a shutdown process where it waits two minutes and shuts off, turning back on when AC is available.

Thanks, that makes sense. Is this a configurable setting to prevent powerchute from issuing the UPS shutdown process?
