I have a BX1500LCD that I changed the battery in about 2 years ago. Suddenly the battery gets drained to 0 with a light load and plugged into AC power. It passes the self-test and gives no indication of bad battery. Might the problem be internal circuitry?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Robb,
This could simply be a sign of a dying/dead battery or could very well be an indication of a failed charger. The BX1500LCD is a Line-Interactive UPS, with it's rectifying/inverter circuitry isolated from the mains output while in the On-line state. If the charger is unable to maintain the adequate voltage for charging or is not providing DC voltage to the battery at all, it is possible that the surrounding circuitry is draining the battery as a result. If you have a failed/failing charger and an old/weak battery, I can see the run-time/voltage of the battery drop very quickly. With that said, depending upon the size of your light load the battery could possibly make it through a self-test.
I'm surprised that the unit is passing a self-test with a faulty charger or even a depleted battery for that matter. It is also possible the charger failure is intermittent.
