Hi,
I have an Back-UPS RS 800VA (BR800BLK).
The problem is that the weekends, the UPS shutdowns and then never power up automatically,
even when 2 other UPS does not shutdown.
Could it be some electrical problem that affects and shutdown the UPS?
Why does the UPS does not power up automatically after clearly 2 days of receiving power?
I changed the senitivity settings from high to medium to see what happends. Also, the UPS load
is 30%.
Many thanks
Oliver

The only symptom of removing the comm. cable when PowerChute is installed should be a "Loss of Communication" error in PowerChute itself. If the UPS is exhibiting a red LED or abnormal indicator of any kind just because you unplug the communication cable that goes to the laptop/PC, that is strange. So when you say that the UPS does not shut down, it does not shut down according to the shutdown parameters you specify in PowerChute, i.e. for x amount of time on battery?
Please confirm that you are using PowerChute Personal Edition in conjunction with the RJ45-USB cable that came included with the UPS, with no USB/serial adapters or cable extenders in place. If your configuration is normal and fits those guidelines you should call technical support (1-800-800-4272) for a final set of quick troubleshooting steps and ask about your RMA options for return.

Hi,
now I have some more info.
The UPS is new, buyed in december-2009.
Only 2 routers and a switch are pluged in the Battery UPS. I installed Powerchute on a notebook,
conected the UPS and configured the settings, then unplugged the data cable.
No computer is connected to the data port of the UPS.
The symptom is that the UPS emits a continuous beep, a red light in on the UPS and the power
is ok. The only solution is to turn off the UPS and turn it on. Removing the power cable of the UPS
and plugin it in the power outlet does not make any difference.
The UPS is connected to a Rack, in that Rack 2 other UPS are connected. None of the UPS have
a failure.
The UPS load is about 15 o 20%
Its a defective UPS?
Thanks
Oliver

Hi,
I could solve this issue by connecting the data cable to the UPS. It seems that once you setup PowerChute you can not remove
the cable or software.
Now I have the problem that the UPS does not shutdown. Since it does not shutdown, it not power on and the server does not power up neither.
Is there a way to setup PowerChute Personal to shutdown the UPS after the Server was shutdown?
Thanks
Oliver

I'm using the PowerChute personal edition and the USB cable that came with the UPS.
I taked the UPS for a technical check, using the warranty. The UPS seems to be working fine, no problem
detected at the local APC distributor.
So, I may have a bad electrical issue. I will check that with an electrician.
The electrical grid is sending me something every morning that make the UPS o crazy. Will post in a few days.
Many thanks for your help
