Hi, I have an older Back-UPS RS 1500. It has worked like a champ for many years, including battery replacements on a regular basis.
Recently, it started flashing (and beeping) the replace batter LED, so I ordered two replacements from BatteryClerk.ca (D7S(T2) 12V7Ah), which are the exact same models from previous replacement 4 or 5 years ago. However, after installing and connecting the replacements, I still got the replace battery LED notification.
I re-seated the connectors, but same result. I also tested the new batteries (and the old ones) with a pocket multimeter (set at 12V) and both sets showed full charges and current, so appears to show the batteries are good. (Basic multimeter, though, so I don't have any way of actually running any advanced tests on these batteries.)
So, I'm thinking it may be the UPS itself that is the problem. Any suggestions on whether I can perform any tests or check on the UPS itself (or how to check the batteries in more detail), or is it time to retire this unit? (It's over 10 years old, but I hate to throw out a unit that has never given me any problems.)
Thanks!

You may try the following break fix to see if this helps to resolve the issue.
Brain Dead: Disconnect all connected loads. Remove AC Mains from the wall outlet. Disconnect the battery cartridge from the unit. Press and hold the power button until you hear a click / beep.
You may not hear anything at all either. ☝️
Reconnect the battery cartridge and apply AC Mains to the unit. Turn on the unit by pressing the power button.
What does the unit do and does it change in behaviour? If not install APC PCPE Software and once connected go to the tab where the battery is. If there is a box / option to tell the system there is a new battery installed do so and enter the month / year.
Once that has been done manually initiate a Self Test. Once complete let the unit recharge the new battery cartridge. When the system indicates a 100% state of charge.
Ensure there is at least 30% attached load connected to the units outputs. Manually initiate a battery calibration via the APC Power Chute Personal Edition (PCPE) Software.
Once complete let the system recharge the battery cartridge and everything should be fine.
Let me know if you have more questions. 👍
