I have had this unit for 2 weeks, the power in my apartment flickered for a brief moment (TV I was watching didn't even turn off) But my APC unit shut down instantly with no LED light and a constant tone. According to the paperwork that means it had an overload while on battery power but I don't see how. I hit the power button which made it turn off but now whenever I try to turn it back on the green LED flashes a few times before turning off and emitting a constant tone again with or without anything plugged into any outlet. The power surge outlets seem unaffected and still provide constant power to things.
I already tried disconnecting everything from it, unplugging it from the wall, unplugging the battery and holding the power button down and trying it again and it still does this. Is this thing just dead or is there something else I can try?

Update here. I called Technical support, they said they have been having a lot of trouble with this particular model and they are sending me an even better model, a 1000va one BR1000MS in exchange for this broken one and emailed me a prepaid return shipping label.

Hi Steven,
Disconnect non-essential equipment from the Back-UPS. Reset the circuit breaker (located beside the power cable of the Back-UPS) by pushing the circuit breaker button fully inward until it catches. If the circuit breaker resets switch the Back-UPS on and reconnect the equipment one-at-a-time. If the circuit breaker trips again, it is likely that one of the connected devices is causing an overload.
Regards,
Tom

The circuit breaker reset button is already pushed fully inwards, in fact it never tripped it to start with and it still refuses to come on, it keeps giving me an overload error with nothing connected to it.

Hi Steven,
The unit will give the constant tone for a series of issues. If you have opened the battery door and connected the internal battery, removed the entire load and the UPS is still giving the constant tone, there may be an internal failure of the unit.
I would recommend you contact your local Schneider Electric call center for continued technical support.

I got Powerchute installed, it sees the unit and whenever I turn it on and it shuts back off again and emits the tone Powerchute tells me it is overloaded again even with nothing plugged into it. Sounds like something in it is very broken. Probably just have to send it back, but maybe I will contact support first, see if they have any ideas.
