Firefox with 30 windows open doesn't even use remotely the amount of cpu resources as the UPS monitoring program. Why does this software hog nearly 20% of the cpu constantly?

Personal 3.1.0
With it running and ramping up cpu usage to a constant 18% on just powerchute I had the following temps which is a 15C spread across random cores.
I killed powerchute about 20 minutes ago and instantly my max 1,400rpm fans dropped to below 1,000 and the temp shed to what normal idle temp should be and only a 3C spread between any random cores.
I've since opened powerchute back up to see if it goes to town on cpu usage again but it hasn't and the temps are the same but there is another part of the program that isn't running which is the part that monitors the energy usage. I believe this is the APC data service as there is an ! point over the tray icon and hovering over the icon says the data service isn't running.
It could be this data service that is the constant resource hog.

Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience. What version of PowerChute are you running? PowerChute Personal Edition, PowerChute Business Edition, PowerChute Network Shutdown? If PowerChute Business Edition what is the model of UPS and how is it communicating? USB or Serial?
