I have 1 APC UPS SMT1500 with AP9630 NMC, one Synology NAS and one Supermicro server.
The location has two separate internet connections with two separate routers.
The Supermicro server is connected to router 1
The Synology NAS is connected to router 2
The APC NMC is connected to router 2
All of the above are powered by the APC UPS.
A simple diagram
What I have done so far
Enabled SNMP V3 on APC UPS.
Setup Synology NAS to connect to AP9630 NMC and it is working. Also setup Synology NAS to act as a UPS server and port forwarded 3493 TCP on router 2 to Synology.
Setup Supemicro server VMs (linux) to connect with NUT client to Synology UPS server and all VMs are seeing the UPS status (online/on battery)
Nevertheless, while testing my setup, neither the Synology NAS nor the Supermicro server gracefully shutdown before the UPS ran out of juice/was powered off by NMC.
Also, in case I need to reboot the Synology NAS, all the VMs on the Supermicro server will shutdown when communication with the UPS server on Synology is lost.
So the question is:
Anybody got a similar setup with one APC UPS with NMC having to protect machines on two different networks?
And most importantly got it working to have the machines shutdown gracefully?
