"Outlet Groups" options missing?

Hello All,

We have a UPS with this configuration:

Smart-UPS 3000 RM XL (SUA3000RMXLI3U)
+ Extended Battery Module
+ AP9631

The rear of the unit looks the same as this : http://www.itinstock.com/ekmps/shops/itinstock/images/APC-Smart-UPS-3000XL-SUA3000RMXLI3U-Rack-Mount...

(except ours has NMC and EBM installed).

Now, please correct me if I am wrong, but the two horizontal strips of 4 outlets on the right, are two separate "outlet groups", correct?

If so, could you please help me determine why the "outlet groups" option is missing in the NMC's web interface? I have tried googling and can't figure out why. I also tried upgrading from the APC 5.1.6 to the (ugly and slightly harder to navigate) new 6.4.0 Schneider interface, and the options still don't appear.

My idea is to be able to shut power off to servers after OS shutdown, but not to networking equipment, and it sounds like Outlet Groups is the key to this ... but I can't for the life of my work out how to enable its configuration..!

(Currently ALL equipment is connected via a PDU connected to the main outlet, and the outlet groups are unpopulated)

Many thanks,

Nev

hi voidstar and Bill,

Thanks for your responses. It sucks, but at least now I know for sure that it can't be done.

Do any of those new models support the same EBM as the SUA3000 uses?

Hi Nev,

I'm afraid the Smart-UPS 3000 RM does not have switched outlet groups. The thinking when these UPSes were designed is that outlet switching is best done by the PDU. But PowerChute doesn't shut down PDU outlets except maybe if you use the "command file" capability. It's all quite unfortunate.

Hi,

Outlet groups are not available in a SUA3000. If you would like a Smart-UPS 3000 with switchable outlet groups you should purchase a SMT3000, SMX3000, SURTD3000, or SRT3000.
