Hello,

When you buy a smart-ups does he have a network management card?

No? How can i see if he got one? When i try to google  it all i find is where i can buy one !

Only if specified otherwise no. Sometimes resellers bundle one but by default no.

I think it should have so you have to check the spec of your UPS from APC site before buying 🙂

Regarding the appropriate selection for the Smart-UPS™, please see the following webpage.  From this page you have selections of Smart-UPS™, SMART-UPS ON-LINE and the SYMMETRA UPS range

From the above page, following are the Smart-UPS product range selection...

You need to go through the various models to see if they include NMC.  Most of the Smart-UPS range include a smart card slot for expansion.  In this expansion slot you can add an NMC.  See product example APC Smart-UPS 1000VA LCD 230V - SMT1000I: http://www.apc.com/shop/uk/en/products/APC-Smart-UPS-1000VA-LCD-230V/P-SMT1000I

Some Smart-UPS have a built in NMC like the following example. In this example you are also provided with a smart card slot for further expansion.

As mentioned in my last post, some Smart-UPS come with a smart card slot.  This UPS has a smart card slot.  You need to check if your unit has an NMC 'upgrade' fitted in the smart card slot.

Yes that's correct.  For SNMP to work, you need an SNMP manager (third party) and an SNMP agent.  The NMC includes the embedded SNMP agent (thus making the NMC as the SNMP agent).  I hope this answers your question.
