large draw item on UPS

Hello,
I have a 120V video projector that uses a 1.2Kw xenon bulb plus about 2oo watts of internal electronics. I am interested in having this on a UPS for spike protection and short duration power outages (less than 5 minutes). When the projector turns on the Xenon bulb powers up very quickly and I'm not sure if a UPS can handle the quick load. I was looking at the APC Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD 120V. I'd make sure the only thing on the UPS was the projector so the load should never exceed 1400 watts. Does anyone on this forum know if the 2200VA UPS could handle a single 1400 Watt device?

Thanks.

-Cablet

I just put a meter on the projector and found that it draws 11.8 amps on power up but then drops down to 7 amps during normal operation.
If this helps.

Just out of curiosity what is the behavior of a motor draw? How is it different from something just turning on? Thanks.

An induction motor typically draws 6 times normal current at startup, whereas the resistive load such as a lamp should just pull its full rating and no more.
