graceful shutdown configuration of SURT6000RMXLT3U via sensors ?
Hi all,
This is a general question about the SURT6000RMXLT3U? Has anyone ever configured the unit to graceful shutdown clients in the event of a certain static temperature configured within in the environmental/ management portion of the system (manager)?
In a nutshell, I'm looking for a unit that will initial graceful shutdown in the event that the temp sensor reach let's say 80 degrees..I'd like the unit to graceful shutdown the clients then shut down itself. Has anyone been able to achieve this with this system? I'm in the pre stages of requesting a demo.
I didn't see in the documentation/manuals for the RM card/sensors/management..etc that there was a setting to configure this, but again that is just documentation.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

hello,
you'll need a network management card that has the environmental monitoring. your UPS will have one of those if you have purchased it - either the AP9619 or the newer AP9631. once you plug your probe in and configure your threshold, you need to install the powerchute network shutdown software on the attached servers you would want to gracefully shut down. once you do that, you log into the software on those servers and configure the system to shutdown when the probe is out of range. note that it will shutdown on ANY violation (unfortunately) so it sounds like you'll need to just configure a high temp violation only at 80 and then when the powerchute software gets the message from the network management card in the UPS that there has been a violation, it will begin its shutdown process.
in addition to that type of event, there are also some other events you can specify a shutdown on or even to run a command file on. by default though, without any special configuration, the server will shutdown when there is a low battery event, which by default (and you could change) is when the UPS has 2 mins of runtime remaining.
