detect ups over network only ?
Hi there,
I have a apc smart ups 5000 equipped with network management card.
this card is configured and working.
However, if i want to install an agent, it is obviously required to connect the
ups with serial or usb cable to the computer to detect it.
As my computers are blade systems, this is impossible, and installation of
an agent is therefore unable to detect the ups.
Question is, how can i install an agent, if the only connection is over
tcp/ip network ?
Thanks

Hello,
You are correct in that PowerChute Business Edition will only work over Serial or USB. For software integration with Network Management Cards, APC has PowerChute Network Shutdown. PCNS as it's called, will need to be installed on each client in place of the PCBE Agent. It will verify communication with the UPS's Network Management Card during startup, and add itself to the PowerChute Client list in the NMC. Please keep in mind that the network needs to remain up and running during a power loss in order for this to work efficiently.
The software can be found here:
