ap9631 v5.1.1 firmware upgrade died. UPS not accessible now.

Hi Everyone,

I used the FW_Upgrade_R2.exe utility to upgrade an ap9631 from 5.0.3 to 5.1.1. During the download of the new bootmon file the executable stopped responding at 5% of the download. I had to kill the process and now the UPS is not pingable.

I tried another UPS but this time made sure no other application on my PC was running. Same result. I rebooted my PC and tried yet another firmware upgrade and it died also. All died at the same place (5% download of the bootmon file). I now have 3 UPS that are not manageable (ie. I can't ping them). I do not have easy physical access to these UPSs; they are at remote locations.

I was able to upgrade 4 UPSs yesterday just fine.

2 questions:
1) How can I finish the upgrade on the UPSs that failed. Serial connection? Will a reboot of the NIC bring it back online with the old firmware?
2) What should I do about the remaining 40 UPSs I have to upgrade? I don't trust this upgrade utility anymore.

Thanks in advance for your help, Ian.

P.S. My laptop is running XP SP2 and is generally very stable.
