Which serial cable to upgrade firmware of my SMT750RMI2U?

Hi there,

I want to upgrade my UPS firmware (current version 6.x). I need a serial cable to do this, so which one is it?

There a two versions of the AP940-0625A cable: RJ45 and RJ50. Which one do I need?

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience. The proper part number is AP940-0625A. That cable is 9 pin serial to RJ50. You will find in some posts and on-line the cable as being described as 9 pin serial to RJ45 which is inaccurate. RJ45 is 8 wire where as RJ50 is 10 wire. The AP940-0625A is 10 wire. The link you provided are for the proper cable. The one listing RJ45 is just being described incorrectly.

The firmware appears to be for a Network Management Card not the Smart-UPS. You can upgrade the firmware of a Network Card using the card wizard. The latest firmware for a Network Card model AP9630, AP9631, AP9635 is 6.5.

If it's the RJ50 connector then it should be updated in your manuals too:

Because there is a "RJ45 connector - serial UPS monitoring port"

And it is the firmware version of the UPS because there is no network card connected. 

There are 4 firmwares:

1.) USV: 06.5

2.) MCU: 11.0

3.) UBL: 8.2

4.) MBL: 11.0

Which is the firmware part which says that "modbus" is activated?

You should review Schneider Electric FAQ FA164737 "How do I update the firmware of my SMT, SMX, SMC, or SRT series Smart-UPS?"

The firmware needs to be a minimum of 9.x for modbus support and depend on the UPS.
