Hi,
My company has a Smart-UPS VT 40 kVA and this morning it started reporting a failed battery. There are 16 batteries in the device and I was just wondering how I would go about finding the faulty one, short of pulling them all out one by one until the error disappears.
The device is networked so I can get into the web config however I can't find anything that would tell me exactly which battery is faulty. Would I have to use a volt meter maybe? All I can find in the user manual is that the batteries are hot swappable.
If anyone knows the procedure I should follow please, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
James

You are actually right with your post, remove rows of batteries until the fault goes away and then you know which row of batteries the faulty on is in.
The SUVT does not have the individual battery monitoring reporting like the larger Symmetra PX or small LX systems do.

Hi Kewster, for a UPS as large as this I would probably recommend calling in to tech support at 1 800 800 4272 option 5 for tech support and speak with one of the 3 phase techs to walk you though the proper procedure.

hello,
The Vt is built up as a matrix, go under menu, fault and diag and it will tell where is the damage. keep in mind that you have to replace two battery module even if one is faulty.check for the right configuration in the user manual
Hope I could help. if there is anything else.....
