Which PDU to connect to Smart UPS 3000XL
Hi,
I am considering the deployment of a 3000XL to provide UPS for 3xDL380 g5 and 1xDL360 g4, some cisco switches and an Equallogic PS400E SAN.
I prefer to have a metered PDU but am confused with the correct rating for the PDU.
The UPS will connect to regular mains supply (UK) - I suspect it is not 16Amps but 13Amps. My supplier has suggestes a 10Amp PDU connected to one of the 8 outlets on the back of the 3000XL. Is this the correct way of connecting the PDU ? Is 10Amp sufficient ? Would there be any point / danger in providing a 16Amp PDU connected to the UPS when the supply coming into UPS is less than 16Amp ?
Forgive my ignorance - I'm not an electrician. All responses greatfully appreciated.

Rob,
The breaker to a 3kVA UPS has to be at least 20A, if not 30. Therefore it's either a 16A max or a 24A max depending on the circuit size. If you don't know, for now, we'll just assume for the purpose of this transmission, that it's 16A. Because of the load you have attached, it seems you may be drawing close to, if not more than 10A, therefore I don't believe a 10A PDU is going to work well for you. You might want to talk to your reseller about finding a PDU that has the output current capacity of the UPS (16A).
