Hello together,
I have some questions concerning the subject above:
I'm currently testing with a SmartUPS 3000 and PCNS.
As I have learned one can configure the Low Battery Duration to x minutes in order to send a low Battery Signal when this remaining time is reached. And one can also configure the PCNS-Client to react on the "On Battery Signal" with certain events like shutting down the operating system etc. Using this Option seems a little bit unsafe to me, because the remainig time until the battery will be discharged is very variable. One can't assume that the runtime shown in PCNS is alway correct.
Therefore my question is: Can't I connect the shutdown of the Client to the Low Battery Duration (Low Battery Signal)? So that I can start my shutdown procedures for the PCNS-Client (e. g. I set a Low Battery Duration of 10 min) when this time begins. So that the shutdown process can be triggered within these 10 minutes?
Please forgive me, for my bad english 😉
Greetings,
Jan

Even if you configure the "on battery" shutdown event for an excess number of minutes, the system will still shutdown on "low battery" as a safety net.
Generally the "on battery" option is used in instances where sequential shutdown is needed or to shutdown certain servers to give others a bit more runtime.

Nice to know,
so if I just wanted my server to start a command file, when the low battery event occurs (set by low battery duration) I have to configure the Command File Execution under the "Configure Shutdown" Tab in the PCNS-webinterface of my server. A configuration of a certain event in addition to "Low Battery Duration" to trigger the shutdown is not needed?
Greetings,
Jan

Jan,
If you just have the default setup for shutdown @ low battery, you don't need to configure anything for an event.
If you were controlling shutdown based on a specific event, it would still use the overall setup of the shutdown configuration to execute the command file. You're just telling it to shutdown for a specific event occurrance instead of Low Battery Signal.
