Hi folks,
I've got a SURTD3000XLT (actually two of them). I've installed the software that came with them, PowerChute Server. It sees at most one of them at a time. I would like to be able to see both (over serial cable), but if I can't do that, I would like to be able to run a custom script (OS is windows server 2003 SP2 32bit) before shutdown.
I can't seem to find any way to do this with the PowerChute Server software.
I tried installing the Business Edition Basic, but it can't find the UPS's on the serial ports (even after uninstalling the Server edition software).
I searched briefly around these forums, but didn't find anything usefull
Any direction out there?
With regards,
Tim

Hi,
Regarding PowerChute Server: PCS only supports a notification command file. Shutdown command files are not an option. A shutdown script could potentially be used in this instance but there is no way to configure the command file duration and thus PCS may not wait long enough before shutdown to finish running a shutdown script.
Powerchute Business Edition isnt compatible with any of the RTD models because they use a different type of communication in comparison to our other UPSs.
The only official option to run a command file would be to install a network management card in the UPS and configure PowerChute Network Shutdown on your servers which features the ability to run command files on any of the systems.
[Network management card models, click here|http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=98]. We have the basic NMC, one with environmental monitoring, as well as environmental monitoring and out of band management (has a modem).
It comes with a CD that has the powerchute network shutdown software or you can download it off of apc.com afterwards. You install it on each server that you want to be shutdown on the UPS. Then on each client's interface for the powerchute network shutdown, you can configure a particular command file to run on it based on a number of events such as on battery, or even an environmental threshold if you get the AP9619 or AP9618 AND they are Windows machines.
